SOCIAL STUDIES LESSON NOTES FOR PRIMARY 1

WEEK1
TOPIC: Meaning of Social Studies
DURATION: 3periods (35 Minutes each)
OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:
1.   explain social studies.
2.   Say any problem facing man and the solution

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Pupils can explain the meaning of social studies.
TEACHING AID: Picture chart of people working together in the office.
PROCEDURE:
STEP1: Arouse pupils’ interest through the use of set induction. Revise their previous knowledge by asking them to mention the members of their family.
STEP2: Introduce lesson by showing pupils a Picture chart of people working together in the office. Get pupils observations by eliciting comments from them.
STEP3: Develop lesson by explaining to the pupils the meaning of social studies. Social studies is the study of man and how his problems are solved in the environment.
STEP4: Guide pupils to say some problems facing man or his society today. Discuss with them the solution to the said problem.

STEP5: EVALUATION: Evaluate lesson and pupils’ understanding by asking them to:
1.   Explain social studies.
2.   Say any problem facing man and the solution

HOMEWORK
Explain the meaning of Social Study.

FG Won’t Pay Salaries Of Staff Schools In Tertiary Institutions – Official

The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC)on Wednesday declared that the Federal Government would not pay salaries of staff schools in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

A 10-Year-Old Girl Suicide Bomber Kills 7 In Yobe


A girl, about 10 years old, carried out a suicide attack at popular Tasha Market/motor Park in Damaturu, Yobe State capital, yesterday, killing seven and injuring 31, witnesses said. The killings came on a day it was revealed that Boko Haram Islamists had recaptured a strategic town in Borno State.

Eleven people died early Monday when Chadian police launched a raid against Boko Haram jihadist militants in a district of the capital N’Djamena, police said. “Five officers, five Boko Haram elements and one police informant” died in the operation in which officers seized several suicide belts, national police spokesman Paul Manga told AFP.

‘My Wife Committed Suicide Because I Caught Her Cheating’



A 33-year-old man, who is currently being investigated by operatives of the homicide unit of Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, has denied killing his wife.

“My wife took poison after a misunderstanding over her infidelity,” he said.

5 Died, 6 Injured In Petrol Tanker Explosion In Kebbi



Zuru (Kebbi) – A fully loaded petrol tanker on Saturday exploded at Dabi in Kebbi, killing five people and injuring six others.

The tanker was heading to Mahuta in Kebbi when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the hilly Dabai junction resulting in the fall of the vehicle and subsequent explosion.
